Welcome to The Clapping Oak Journal.

I named my business The Clapping Oak to represent what I want to put into the world and what I want for my own life. An oak grows tall. Strong. Beautiful. Useful to its community of other living creatures and to Earth itself. When the winds blow, its leaves rustle and clap. The oak shares the joy of its being.

The Clapping Oak Journal is about communicating and connecting with others in a way that forms a healthy community. It’s about a hunger to learn and to share. It’s where I will share some things I care about, including

  • Community building

  • Anti-ageism

  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Narratives, and reframing them on occasion

  • Personal and organizational development

  • Simplicity

  • Other things I might find interesting. (I am a whole person, and I’m pretty much done dividing myself up. I encourage you to approach your life in the same way.)

My plan is to publish every other Wednesday, with an extra thrown in now and then.

People

I am a communications trainer and consultant, a writer and editor, and a continuous learner. Words, water, and trees are my friends. So are solitude and people.
